Re: Wild about Wildies
Missed this, happy birthday guys! The 3 that stayed with my friend are doing fine, but definitely showing signs of age. One even seems to be a bit grey around the muzzle and oddly enough above her eyebrows! never seen a rat go grey before!!

Re: Slightly complicated pyometra cases - any advice?
Sorry, I honestly can't remember having a prolonged pyo type case. I would say up the baytril a little and like Beri said add co-amox. The neuro issues could possibly be caused by prolonged or overuse of anaesthetic, so I'd just keep an eye on it and see if it develops.

Working in a pharmacy has its uses
Best of luck, I hope she perks up. Might be worth investing in something like Weight Up Baby from the rat warehouse, or Poly Aid to help with the weight loss? Or just good old nutrical.

Right, so in 5mL the is 200mg. That means in 1mL there is 40mg. So in 0.1mL there is 4mg. I would give 0.2mL twice a day, which is 8mg in each dose.

Re: Severe resp infection - anything else I can do?
Is that 0.15mg or mL of azith? http://ratguide.com/meds/antimicrobial_agents/azithromycin.php There's the dosage recommendations for azithromycin. 4 mg/lb to 8 mg/lb BID first 14 days I would seriously up that as well, and go for the max. You could safely give her about 15mg a day split into 2 doses...

Re: Severe resp infection - anything else I can do?
I was just about the say the same thing, that's an absolutely miniscule amount to be giving her. Rat Guide says .025mg - 1mg per lb (450g is a lb, so that's easy to work out). I would seriously up the dose of pred for a day or so and see how she does. I'd give her 0.4mL twice a day. It sounds like y...
