Re: Urgent - need advice
Oh poor lad
Can't believe the vets are behaving that way, for Pete's sake.

Re: Need opinions on when to PTS-pneumonia
I very recently had to put my beautiful Bug rat to sleep thanks to pneumonia, so I know how hard it is to make that decision ... I remember the morning I took him to the vets, I walked down the street with him in my arms (the vet is a two minute walk from me) and he was looking around with such curi...

Re: Penis Problems
Oh thank god, thank you Laura! I actually said to my boyfriend 'what if it's a flesh eating virus, or a wart?!'
I don't think my boys trust me any more. That's their special place and mummy should never go near it.

Penis Problems
I noticed when removing a penis plus that the inner rim of Papa Zen's sheath is purple?! Checked my other boys, and some are purple some are not. One of my boys also has what I hope is just an abcsess forming next to his penis, and has had a warm compress, but oddly his sheath isn't purple. Is this ...

Re: Fresh foods my rats ate today
I went into Tesco and they had some reduced ready-to-eat quinoa and a reduced herb and seed mix, so ratties will be having that added to their nommy dinners for the next few days.

Re: Very Sickly Ratty
Thank you everyone, I appreciate the kind words. I've never fought so hard for anything before in my life, and I was in a state of shock the whole day after he was put to rest ... It still doesn't seem real. His last night I stayed up with him, and he snuggled up and we fell asleep for about an hour...

Re: Very Sickly Ratty
Phoned my local vet, they're going to give me some Furosemide to put him on! Can I check the dosage for a 400g rat?

Re: Very Sickly Ratty
Took him to Trinity's last night, they've put him on Noroclav and he's had some fluid injections as he was very dehydrated. She suggested an xray to check if it was heart related, but I said no because I didn't want to risk the anaesthetic ... Either way, this morning I gave them a call to see wheth...

I'm in a similar situation at the moment ... I hadn't even considered it may be his heart, mostly it's seemed like pneumonia. He's taken a turn for the worse this morning

Other rats in the group presented all SDA symptoms, so there's no doubt everyone in the group caught the virus.

Re: Very Sickly Ratty
They were supposed to be getting marbocyl in for him, but it just never seemed to happen. Every time I went in they didn't have it and were ordering it in ... The vet says that doxy and baytril is pretty much the best combination I can have him on based on what they have available for him. I want to...
