Re: Best air purifier to get for rats respiratory systems

I have an ElectrIQ CD20L 20 Litre Antibacterial Dehumidifier which has an air purifying setting. I think it's great, but I have only had it whilst I haven't had rats.

Re: Newbie rat owner concerns

If it's not hurting I wouldn't worry. Lots of my rats have nibbled my fingers to check whether it was food or not, and also nibble my hands to groom them, and none of them ever bit me hard enough to draw blood or anything. If it is hurting or you are still worried about getting bitten, you could try...

Re: Lump in throat

I know this is a bit off-topic, but I love your rats names! I'm massively into Guardians of the Galaxy, and was actually intending to name my snails after characters (particularly Drax, Rocket, and Yondu).

I hope Yondu's lump turns out okay.

Re: What to do for the best

When you do move on with Jasper, perhaps don't separate him from the other rats? Sometimes the shyer ones can take courage from the braver ones, and having them nearby will probably make him feel more secure? You could also try rubbing your hands in the substrate/on the fleece (or whatever you use t...

Re: Why do you use FR?

The same reasons as other people have mentioned, mostly. This was the best place to ask for advice, or to find information, which is why I first started to visit here, and there's also a sense of community. Even if, like me, you rarely have direct contact with other members, it's still a comfortable...

Re: Bulletin about FR on Social Media

Facebook: Cute videos and pictures, especially if they're showing rats doing things particularly cute or impressive. Cute animals seem to do well on Facebook (as in they get shared around a lot). You could also post links to articles, or snippets of information, or interesting facts. Twitter: Use th...

Re: Were my sisters last 3 rats poisoned? I need help!

You mentioned that the new rats were both about the same age and size as Luna, so that suggests that all the rats have become sick at a similar age? Also, I suppose that unless there was quite an obvious difference in age, it's possible that the first two to become ill may well have been from the sa...

Re: Blood filled tumor?

I just wanted to update this. Caspian is fine. He was so miserable on his own (he became very nervous and was off his food and stuff, so I put his friends in with him to see what would happen and he seemed so much happier that the next day I put him back in with them. He was his normal self again fr...

Re: help im worried :(

Have you got cats? I know some rats go into a sort of shock when they smell cats, although I'm not sure how long that would last. My rat 'froze' for quite a long period when one of my cats got into my bedroom (even after I'd removed the cat). I think someone said that even the smell is enough to mak...

Re: Blood filled tumor?

Interestingly enough I got Caspian from izzerie although the two cases are probably not linked.

If e was younger or I bred then I would have but it seemed unlikely to be worthwhile in te long run.

Re: Blood filled tumor?

That's what I think she said it might be but I have no idea if rats can have the same thing or something similar.

Does anyone know: Can a blood filled tumour be benign?

Blood filled tumor?

My male rat Caspian has had a mammary (?) lump removed (my vet friend and the vet that saw him both agreed that's what it was). I am awful with time and so I'm not sure how old he is (I guess between 18 months two 2 years). However, afterwards the vet showed me the tumor which was deflated because s...
