Re: HLD and bumps under fritz 's neck

Darn it. My poor little mannikin.
I'll make him as comfy as possible and feed him what he wants.
Thank you Jackie.
I knew there was a good reason I gave up having rats, :(
how long do you think he has?

HLD and bumps under fritz 's neck

Hallo. Me again, about my little fritz biscuit. He has hld. He came from a rescue of 220 rats, I took on 5, 3 didn't last long, 2 had hld, and obviously, the terrible start, coupled with massive inbreeding has taken its toll my fritzie . I noticed today that he has little pea like bumps, mobile, aro...

Re: HLD

Thank you. I kind of thought there would be nothing that could be done, as he is a lazy neutered boy, I shall have to find a treadmill or something!!!

HLD

Is there anything that can be done to halt, or slow HLD?
Thank you.

Re: baytril dosing

He's a bit of a chubba . ... 860g! But not fat, just big boned.
I will divide the dose.
He is on metacam as well. He has a lumpy mass that we are treating as inflammation/infection.
thank you for replying.

baytril dosing

Good afternoon
A question regarding the dosage of baytril
my lovely Ronnie is to have .7 thingies of baytril, in one dose
this is rather a lot, would it be ok to split it into 2 doses, a couple of hours apart?
Thank you.

Re: Injury to tail and toe

This end of tail thing... I am sure the boys I took on from a rescue had dead bits on the end of the tails. Definitely. One of them had the dead bit and then a ring of inflamed tissue at the base of that. He went to the vet and we discussed amputation if it got worse, but it cleared up and the dead ...

Re: Square tails in rescue rats.

They are all older rats, 2 of them codgers!! I wondered if that might be the case. I will feed them up as best I can, maybe if I get them really podgy .......!!! Thank you for replying. Whilst I am here, I noticed that one of the older boys has lost the use of his little fingers. His hands grip but ...

Square tails in rescue rats.

Good morning. I am looking after some rescue ratties at the moment, and I have noticed at the bases of their tails, the tail is squared. I cannot for the life of me remember what this means but having said that I am fairly sure it is a dietary thing. Can it be corrected by a better diet? Is it an in...

Re: Would you be annoyed?

I think I would be very annoyed. Poor little thing.
Why would they do the neutering and not the health related surgery first? A peculiar thing to do.
Wishing him well, and you calming thoughts.

Re: Stroke

HE is on metacam(?) and ABs. the vet was puzzled. She gave him a thorough poke and prod, so his head needed constant scritching.
Will just have to wait and see how he goes.
Thank you all for responding.

Stroke

I have had a search through looking for information on strokes. My big boy Lazlo has become suddenly unwell, nothing dramatic, just unwell, he has become slow, and fluffy, and just not himself. He will be going to the vets, but is it likely it is a stroke, I have only just thought of it. what are th...
