Re: Older man front paws clenched?

He is eating with them unclenched when he picks up scatter fed foods today.... Having had a look through the green diseases book at PT and brain tumors he has no other symptoms as listed :? We will take him to the vets of course but he isn't lethargic, off food, porphyrin stained or head tilting. Hi...

Older man front paws clenched?

I have an old man named Starbuck who will be coming up to 24-27 months at a reasonable estimate (he was a rescue boy). He is suffering with the beginnings of HLD but coping quite well and we have discussed beginning to put him on pain meds. The other boys are being very gentle and we have set up the...

Re: Administring Medication?

I have a boy who just will not take meds in anything (believe me we have tried the works!!) for us it has to be syringed in straight which is not a nice experience to start with but I have found it gets better. We wrap in a tea towel with only his head showing and place the syringe in the side of th...

Unsure what is wrong

Caprica developed what we thought was a resp infection. He was wheezy and snuffly with classic red discharge around his nose. After listening myself to his lungs at home to confirm what we assumed we took him to the vets who prescribed him baytril as it was the first respy infection he has suffered....

Antibiotics Resp Question

So Caprica has an infection in his right lung. Its the first resp type issue he has has and he is an older gent. The vet has put him on a 10 day course of Baytril with the understanding we bring him back after 10 days - if he has improved enough she will give me some more Baytril or we can discuss w...

Re: Blood everywhere!!

When Apollo had his stroke he bit the toenail off his back leg, presumably because he couldn't feel anything. I have never seen so much blood. Compared to when they get cuts and bites on the skin and there is nothing.

Re: Fresh foods my rats ate today

Half a left over wheat wrap filled with cat food, banana, sweetcorn, leftover porridge and boiled egg, carrots, stir fry greens and a few egg noodles. A real mishmash of any left over in little portions :)

Re: Where To Get The Stuff In The Uk

Have you ever read the scuttling gourmet book? After browsing here and looking at rat rations and trying one of their premixed completes I read through it and found it very helpful alongside what other members suggested. It gave a good starting point for questions to add ask here.

After a castration - difference in body shape.

This may be a rather strange post and I am probably worrying a little over nothing. We had Adama castrated on Friday. He is our first rat who has undergone the procedure. We found a good vet who we were confident with and the procedure went well. He was a little unhappy when we brought him home and ...
