Re: Advice please
Our medicine box would rival that of a vet surgery's pharmacy ;) So Nonna came up the road with us, but had perked up loads within 24 hours of starting baytril. On Christmas Day we noticed her teeth were misaligned so managed to cut them with my mum's dog nail clippers, which was interesting. She's ...

Re: Advice please
Well by the time we got in from work her breathing was respy. We still went to have her checked. Were seen 80 minutes after our appointment time by a new vet who was a bit rubbish. After asking us what we fed them, what we use in the cages and if they could have lepto he swabbed her nose - just to l...

Advice please - ETA old age, grieving, or other?
I just wanted to pick your brains on Nonna. She's a rescue so we aren't sure on age - she was thought to be 6 months-ish when we got her so that would make her 15 months now but she could easily be a lot older. We lost her sister suddenly last weekend - just found her dead and she'd not been unwell ...

Re: My rat needs oxygen
If they've needed oxygen they've stayed at the vet. We have an emergency oxygen tank but only for transporting them to the vet rather than a long term thing.

Re: Discussions relating to Hantavirus *Poll Added 6th April
Well we had 20 people tested. The HPA were pleased with that. We've all got our kits for the rat urine tests. I've got 7 sets for taking blood from people who can't get to a session and loads of urine kits for anyone who wants to provide some. They'll not be linked to a blood sample but will provide...

Re: Discussions relating to Hantavirus *Poll Added 6th April
Reply to the further questions: 1 - will you be able to test children (we have a mum of a 3 year old asking)? To be eligible for the study, volunteers need to be a (fancy) rat owner and be aged 18 years or older (the ethical approval we have for this study only allows volunteers to be 18 or over) 2 ...

Spinal injury?
Kev has just had to rush off to the vet with Byron, who is a 6 month old buck. Found him on the floor of the cage unable to move his back end. Part of the tail sensation is gone but it's there nearer the base and in his feet. No obvious pain, front end looks happy and normal. I assume he's had a fal...
