Re: The Other Great Naked Debate!!

Personally, I don't agree with breeding them because I've heard about various health issues, but I would happily welcome any rescue hairless ratties into my mischief - I do like soft and snuggly fur, but I won't judge on looks. And they are totally adorable, just in a different way. :-) All rats ar...

Re: Foster homes offered in the North of England

I am in Sheffield, have a spare Freddy and a spare Furet Plus and am happy to foster ratties. Also have some experience with pregnant does and babies and would be happy to extend that :D Rachael

Re: Rat missing front legs

That video was beautiful :) she coped wonderfully, I would never have imagined! I have a very old boy, Marty, who has HLD. One of his legs has almost completely gone and the other isn't much better :( I have often sat and agonised over whether I really ought to consider PTS...but he seems so happy w...

Re: Calpol dosage

Think I have both kinds in :) thank you both for that!

Will be handy for using up my supply of 6+, since both older children loathe the taste so much they now ask for a tablet instead :o

Calpol dosage

I was just wondering how to work out the dosage of Calpol using a rat's weight as a guide? I always have it in being the mother of small children and really ought to know how to administer to the ratties, just in case.

TIA, Rachael

Re: Crusty balls

Thank you :) I will try the Sudocrem, I don't think it could do any harm and might just take the edge off any soreness. He's fine in every other respect so I'm ok with hanging on for the vet until normal opening hours resume, unless of course he deteriorates at all during that time in which case out...

Crusty balls

What a lovely subject heading   Dexter, who is around a year old (rescue so unsure of exact age) has developed very red sore-looking balls with a white crusty coating on them. Same symptoms appear on approximately the first half inch of his tail :( . He is healthy and happy otherwise and ...

Loose greenish poo?

yesterday I took in a couple of ex pet shop rescues, a male and a female. I didn't separate instantly as they had been kept together for weeks anyway (she is on pregnancy watch) and they were both so scared and jumpy, especially following the journey, that I thought it best to leave them together on...

Re: Is it right to PTS out of guilt?

I think that guilt is the right reason to PTS - in that you have tried other options, they haven't worked, and your heart of hearts tells you that it is wrong to keep the rat going because you are hoping for a miracle, and that you would feel guilty if you don't make the decision to PTS. It sounds ...

Re: Am I In For Heartbreak?

Hi! Sorry for the late reply, been very busy :D I've found a treat! He goes mental for rich tea fingers :P Can't quite hide the medicine in it, sadly, but he's resigned himself to the fact that mummy has to squirt it in his mouth, he's very good and doesn't really make a fuss anymore. Only two days...
