Re: Is there any way to "ignore" certain posts?

I don't think their are dual standards and I did deserve the warning I got.  There is a point where openly abusing members although it may feel the only option isn't very constructive (unfortunately) and doesn't make any difference. I can see that it must be hard for the mods because if...

Re: Is there any way to "ignore" certain posts?

I don't understand how percieved bullying or harsh critisms - or even stating that you've seen a rat for adoption at a local pets at home can be given a warning, but cruelty threads are not deleted and in fact the OP is often defended by the admin?

Re: Removing staining

I would be careful using baby wipes. I have 3 golden himi's (they're very light though) and previously when I've cleaned them they decide they need to groom the baby wipey-ness off! And then their necks get even more pink! I'd do it a few days before a show if you need to and maybe just try and brus...

Re: Virus Outbreaks?

Doesn't mean everyone will adhere to them - experienced breeders and showers will but anyone can enter and there's no way to ensure that every exhibitor has followed procedure. Not showing ill rats is common sense but they might have added new rats to their group without quarantining who have passe...

Re: Constipation?

Glad to hear it! Make sure she has lots of yummy treats as she may not have been able to absorb as many nutrients whilst she was constipated. Hopefully it'll not happen again!

Re: Virus Outbreaks?

What's people's advice re: showing at this time? I really want to go to Theale but with resp. susceptible rats in my group I wouldn't want to risk bringing anything back to them. I am very interested in this as well, as although my boys are healthy I wouldn't want to risk them getting something lif...

Re: Constipation?

Definately what Stormysky said. I had a problem with a young boy who had constipation and got very very bloated. It's dangerous as they could rupture their insides if it's left too long.

Fingers crossed it's just constipation and not something more sinister.

Re: Constipation?

Try giving her greens such as curly kale and broccoli. You could also try figs, as they are a natural laxative. However I'd say if she hasn't pooed for a day or so I would take her to the vets, as she may have an underlying problem. Also rats have such fast metabolisms that she may not be getting th...

Re: Stray rat broken leg

Well no one seems to be interested in my recent update but thought i'd post that he had his leg amputated and is doing well. I've followed this from the first post, offering support and advice. I'm so terribly sorry that one of my own rats has just come out of surgery so I couldn't reply instantane...

Re: X- rays?

I had to have an emergency x-ray done on one of my boys, and it cost over £200. Needless to say I don't go to that vets anymore....

Re: firm attached lump, operate or not?

You might have a bit more luck with the Rowes vets in Wotton-Under-Edge if you can drive. I've had bad experiences with the Bradley Stoke Rowes as well.

Re: Ronnie's second head.

Which vets are you going to? I have previously used Rowes, but wouldn't recommend them for specialist problems, however they seem fine for routine things (giving medication for resp etc). If I was to go to Rowes, I would also use the Wotton one as they guys there seem to be a lot more knowledgeable....

Re: Urgent - Vet Cheltenham

This is the link to the vets that SueN (and myself now) use. It's very near Stroud if you can get out that way. I haven't needed to use it yet, but I have been told that Diederick and Paulo are very good if you can get an appointment with either of them.
