Re: H E L P - SEAGRASS CRISIS :(

Is she kind of drooling? Rats can't vomit but they can be prone to choking. A choking rat will be very subdued, make a kind of wretching motion repeatedly and drool a lot. They can usually clear it themselves given time. Leave her in peace and quiet but just keep an eye. In my experience they sort t...

Re: Injectable anaesthetic for pts? *sensitive*

Just thought I'd feed back on this so there is more information available for people if they search for the same topic in future. I had Salem pts following this thread and opted for the injectable anaesthetic. I was worried he was going to panic at being held still and then find the injection distre...

What area are you in? Someone might be able to recommend a good vet with an emergency out of hours service.

Re: Strange fit- help!

If I remember correctly rattypetrolhead had a boy with fits that were managed with daily doxy. Can't remember diagnosis details though. Might be worth PM'ing her.
I'll nudge her too...

ETA: Have messaged her on FB.

Injectable anaesthetic for pts? *sensitive*

I have been fortunate enough to be able to stay with a number of rats during the entire pts process. All but one of them have had gas anaesthetic prior to the injection. I have to be honest I do find that they have generally found the gas anaesthetic a little distressing, but at least this only last...

Re: urgent possible nasal tumour

Yep, I can definitely see some sort of swelling too. Not sure I can shed any light though but does sound/look suspiciously like something is growing or accumulating in the airways :(

Rookie's swollen snout - looks like this was more widespread than what you've added on to Tate.

Re: Urgent: Photos of the heads of old rats who've lost weig

This is Sian's Somer when he was 30 months. But as I recall his weight wasn't too bad, HLD was his main issue. Marie/Izzerie posted a lovely photo of Tate on FB a few weeks back when she was rat sitting and he was pretty skinny. I'll try to find that for you and keep trawling through my old pics. ht...
