Re: frequently choking rat

I would take him for a check of his mouth and teeth. I have never seen any rat do this. Good luck

Re: Getting ready for rats!! Few questions

Emma there are many breeders in Scotland. If you can make it there is a meeting on Saturday in Paisley for the Scottish Rat clubs. I personally know of 6 breeders who will be at the meeting. Pm if you need anymore details. :D Laura

Re: Is it possible to have a cage that is too big?

OOhh exciting time. I would agree that Hamocks, ropes, cargo nets are all good at first. Keep the cage open so there is nowhere to hide. Once you bond you can add tunnels, cardboard boxes with entrances and exits, igloos and wine racks as they will run to you when the door opens by that time. :D I do...

Re: SRS suitability?

I've had my SRS for a while. It was not that difficult to put together. I assembled mine without the middle shelf. I got fed up with the substrate all over the floor and luckily had a mate that made me a metal base that is a good 10cm tall. Pros- easy to get to every bit of the cage, very big, loads...

Re: Is he well?

If you don't feel happy with this then I would always seek a second opinion. By doing this in the past I saved my 4mth old kitten having his eye removed. He is now well over a year and is blind in one eye but has a full happy life- his retina came loose. I would ask rat folk on here for local vet re...

Re: Really upset with FR

I'm a bit demused by this whole thread. The role of this forum is to educate, support and advise anyone keeping rats. Ok, I may not keep snakes or ever want to but I do feel that every animal deserves the best of care. Now I think of myself as a really good owner and I would not feed my guys any old...

Re: Rat rooms

I have a rat room and I like it and don't like it. I like it cause I can just shut the door and let them out and everything in there is safe and I can also leave the window open. I don't like it because I am not in there all the time. I like it because before free range was in the hall and I had to ...

Yeah I would agree. I think if your worried and it has been going on for a while you'd be best going to the vets

Re: Flora might lose an eye :(

This happened to my wee Henry. The vet couldn't see what was wrong because the eye was full of blood. After a couple of weeks my original vet wanted to take it out but they still didn't know what was wrong so I looked for a second opinion. I found a great ratty vet who agreed that it wasn't botherin...

Re: Tesco mixer

I'm a member of the SRC and we have started to make a bulk order in time for delivery for the show from any member that is interested in RR stuff and splitting the p&p. So it may work out that you get your stuff and have £2 extra to pay as your part of the postage. I don't know if this would be poss...
