Re: Doxy Dosage Question
He said her lungs sound pretty rough (worse than I actually thought. She's a lot better hiding it than Sybil was).. Do you think it would be worth giving her the slightly higher dose of 1/8 to hit it a little harder and make up for any tablet I might lose during the crushing etc?

Re: Doxy Dosage Question
I think she was around 300g last time she was weighed. She may have put a little weight on since then, but she'd def be no more than 400g I think.

Doxy Dosage Question
I'm really sorry for this thread and I'm pretty sure this has been answered so many times, but I did a search and I couldn't find the doxy dosage to verify what my vets told me. I know it's probably there and I'm just missing it. Sorry. D: I had Edith at the vet today because her resp issues have fl...

Re: Choking Rat
Yeah, that's what logic says. xD
But it's hard not to worry, especially when you know what specific thing it was.

Re: Choking Rat
I figured letting her deal with it herself was probably going to be the answer, but I guess I wanted to make sure I was doing the right thing. A bit of reassurance. You feel like you should be doing something. Lol. I think she's fine now, this is more just for future references. I felt so guilty bec...

Choking Rat
About 15 minutes ago my rat Cassie started choking on a piece of dried fish from the seafood mix I get from RatRations. She was convulsing like she was trying to get something up and squeezing her eyes closed, and her mouth began watering brown liquid. I assumed this was saliva, coloured brown by th...

PTS Advice
I've not been on this forum as much lately, but some of you may or may not remember I've had a lot of health issues with my little roan dumbo Sybil literally since the day I got her. She's had many trips to the vets, but she's got to the point anything the vet is willing to do isn't helping anymore....

Re: Sybil Myco Flare Up AGAIN.
Sybil seems to be doing quite a bit better. Though she'll barely take the baytril like, at all. :/ Also, I'm wondering if her lungs are scarred/weak would the noises/symptoms etc be constant or could it worsen at times because of environmental factors or something? Like maybe when it's coming up to ...

Re: Sybil Myco Flare Up AGAIN.
Yeah, I kinda knew that.. but I kinda felt awkward correcting him. I probably should have though.
I'll give her both then, and make sure they're at least an hour apart.

Re: Sybil Myco Flare Up AGAIN.
That's what I kinda thought. He also said like if you use some antibiotics together then neither might work because they clash, but I know a lot of people use combinations. To be honest, I'm finding it hard to find a vet that knows at all what they're talking about here. I've been to 3 different pra...

Re: Sybil Myco Flare Up AGAIN.
Well, back from the vet. Not completely sure he knew what he was talking about. He sounded her chest/heart and said it sounded fine, and that he thought it was her lungs. (I wasn't really sure that was enough to disprove the heart thing tbh) but I asked about a combination of antibiotics and he said...

Re: Sybil Myco Flare Up AGAIN.
I'm reading about cardiovascular problems on ratguide.com and a lot of the symptoms fit. Before when she had myco flare ups or even when she was bleeding from her vagina (I say that because they never actually found out for sure what caused it) she was always active and never went off her food. I'm ...

Re: Sybil Myco Flare Up AGAIN.
Could heart problems and her ongoing resp problems be linked? Like, weakening or something?
Also how do they check their hearts?

Re: Sybil Myco Flare Up AGAIN.
Last time she was weighed she was around 300g. She's been on it almost two weeks.
Initially she did seem to pick up some, but then it got bad again.
Should I give her 1/8th or maybe up it more until I can get a combination?

Sybil Myco Flare Up AGAIN.
So Sybil's having another myco flare up and it's particularly bad this time. Really not shifting with doxy, she's not eating as much, lost weight, less active and she feels cold. Though she's not completely inactive, just very easily tired out. She's currently on 1 tenth of a 20mg tablet twice a day...
