Re: Metacam and Baytril

Do they mean they diluted it 50% or it is the 50% baytril? I've seen people get caught out on that before.

Re: Can meloxicam be mixed with something else when dosing?

Yes but if you mix baytril 2.5% and metacam it curdles. I usually put let one soak into a cube of bread then add the other then smear choc spread on it.

Re: Euthanasia Methods (ETA at the vets)

I've had several rats take over 20mins for the heart to stop if the injection is just into the abdomen. One did start to come round to and had to have more sevoflo. Re: Euthanasia Methods (ETA at the vets)

An IC injection without anaesthesia is legal here but most vets don't do it. I've had several rats take over 20mins for the heart to stop if the injection is just into the abdomen. One did start to come round to and had to have more sevoflo. There can be quite a lot of blood leakage with an IC injec...

It's really hard. I always try to trust my instincts and figure if I think it's time it probably is. It's rough, I'm sorry. It's a great age, she's clearly been well looked after and had a great life with you.

Re: Totally at a loss about what's wrong

I would change antibiotic again. Try azithromycin or doxycycline and baytril together. It could also be heart at that age, and the collapse could be heart related and the breathing issue due to fluid. I would try furosemide and benazepril too and see if that improves him
