Spayed doe, lots of bleeding

I think for about 2 weeks Pünktchen has had pink discharge from her vagina. she was on Amoxicilline for resp issue then, so the vet said to finish the course. the reason could either be infection, or problem with spay scar tissue. last Friday she finished with AB. meanwhile i injured my hand and was...

Re: suddenly weak back leg(s)

ok, during the night, i saw her walking more normally, and by the morning she was bright and pretty much back to her normal self. the vet suspected that the nerve was pinched or damaged, so gave her a shot of Cortizone in case there is any inflammation. he told me to bring her if this happens again,...

Re: suddenly weak back leg(s)

i don't have a dipstick unfortunately. i did soak her wee in cotton just in case though, although i don't know if that's usable... :? she looks generally tired but not really displaying pain symptoms. her coat looks normal. when she is moving and dragging her legs behind, she sucks in her sides but ...

Re: suddenly weak back leg(s)

i see, then that'll narrow down what i can tell the vet in case she doesn't have much experience with rats, until we can get an appointment with the specialist vet. thanks so much for clarifying that Beri. :) will follow up after the vet. crossing fingers my Elvie babe will be alright...

Re: suddenly weak back leg(s)

on the other hand, i realised she can scratch herself with both her legs with the normal speed. if it was a stroke, she wouldn't be able to move them much, can she? then maybe it's something else, good thing i had some Baytril at hand... i'll see what the vet says tomorrow.

Re: suddenly weak back leg(s)

got advice from Kate and Marie via FB. gave her Baytril for tonight to treat possible ear/urinary tract infection. then taking her to the vet in the morning and get steroid. i'll call the appointment-only rodent specialist and ask her opinion, then if necessary take her there too. also left a messag...

Re: I think we might be getting close to our first loss

(((hugs))) it's always sad no matter what, but i lost my first girl Zazie quite suddenly (overdose of anaesthesia). she was only 18 months and it was a huge shock to me. i still feel so sad that i could not spend the "special" time with her before she went... spoil him loads and give him lots ...

Re: Galastop/lumps/spayed doe

she stopped hooting like a pigeon now that she's on 5 meds! (doxy, mucous-releaser, immune system-booster+echinacea, and 2 homeopathic meds). by the way i forgot to mention, the vet confirmed that she took out *everything*. so because of that she also does not see the point of giving her Galastop. a...

Re: Galastop/lumps/spayed doe

ok, it's good news. the good vet did a thorough checkup on Pünkie and she doesn't think there is a 3rd lump on her throat. (crossing fingers she's right!) the 2 lumps, she would wait till it's getting in her way to operate, but she's in a general good health so the op will not be a problem. for the ...

Galastop/lumps/spayed doe

so, Pünktchen was spayed last month but she now has 3 lumps growing... one getting quite big that she probably needs an op very soon. i found a new one on her side last week. then the vet found the 3rd one growing right on her throat, which i don't even know if it's operable... :( we are ready to do...
