Re: Infuriating vets

The only time my vets have measured out each individual dose was when I had a course of injectable ABs. I'd definitely be writing a complaint about her general attitude, I don't think you can complain about how she dispensed the ABs for you as technically they are meant to give you the correct dose...

Re: My rats seem underweight

I didn't notice a square tail but looking back at the photo's I think you're absolutely right. Square tails don't relate to a rats size but they do relate to malnutrition, i.e. they aren't getting the right vitamins and minerals they need - doesn't mean they aren't getting enough food, just that the...

Re: My rats seem underweight

For 5-6mth old rats they are on the petit side, but don't look unhealthy. Looking at their weights, and their pics and their age - I might be tempted to try and get them above the 200g mark. Although it's never good to have obese rats (I struggle this end with overweight boys  ) my personal pr...

Re: Zithromax and Septrin dosage help please

Id be careful with those zithromax doses. My vet (specialist in exotics) told me they prescribe different disages of zithromax depending on the illness. When my rats were on it their body weight was the indicator so: 500g rat = 0.5ml 470g rat = 0.47ml That was once daily. They also tapered off becau...

Thread subscription function?

I wish there was a subscribe to function, I've used them in other forums, you subscribe to a thread and it stays in a subscribed too type folder which you can find in your profile settings. I don't find the search function all that great here either. I searched Hamberley cage in habitat - it came up...

Re: Rats being unusually still?

Ashleigh is where I took them, I believe it was Michelle who saw them (and I think it was Aidan the first time I took them there for a slight mucus buildup, coincidentally!) An update: Suddenly, both of them seem back to normal! They both came down to the bottom of the cage, started looking to get ...

Re: Rats being unusually still?

Ok, well they know their shizzle at that vets, so if they've given them the once over and said they're ok, then I'd trust them. Michelle has brought back a rat that I have twice from pneumonia. A lot of members around this area who have rats and live within the Manchester area take them there I've t...

Re: Rats being unusually still?

I'm in South Manchester too!

Best vet's is Ashleigh in Whalley Range/Chorlton: http://ashleigh-veterinary-centre.com/

Ask to see Michelle. If Michelle isn't available then Aiden.

Did you take them there this morning because I know they open for an hour on Saturday and I think a Sunday too?

Re: Rats being unusually still?

Good advice from Hobbit Stealer and I agree. Other than being very subdued/quiet, is there any other symptoms such as; puffed up coat rattly chest, sneezing, laboured breathing, side sucking (where his chest is really going in and out when he's breathing) any discomfort or pain - is he squeaking, or...
