Re: Thinking about downsizing cage
Well i wanted to place an update here. i did not only downsized the cage, but also my rat group.... i was to hard for me to give them the care they needed. the 2 baby boys went back to breeder, together with a 6 month old male. (he was more close to the babies) I decided due to health problems to go...

Re: Question intro/cages
I have started the intro in the mini duna.
They have been in the small carrier for about 4-5 hours this morning, and i just put them back in the miniduna cage.
I see them sleeping in mixed groups now. In the carrier everything was ok too.
Will see how it goes from here.

Re: Question intro/cages
Yesterday morning i started the intro in the ferplast mini duna cage. The kittens weigh around 230-240gr. Everything is going well. They are all very easy going and just get around the cage, sniff eachother and go back to their own sleeping corner. (Kittens apart from the others in their corner) The...

Re: Thinking about downsizing cage
aah thanks, do you have a picture of your cage layout? do you use the shelves that come with the cage? maybe a fully open cage can work, but they love the middle floor space and their house up there. they always build super nests around the house with the green mile carboard, they don't do this when...

Re: Thinking about downsizing cage
my husband says don't take the 2 kittens and keep the 3 you have, and house them in the savic zeno 2 (80x50x70) but i think it is wat too small for 3 and i want a nice group around 4-6 rats. will see how it works out to clean the upper part one week and the lower part the next week, maybe that is a ...

Re: Thinking about downsizing cage
Hmm not sure if it is doable to take the midpart oud. Have to take the whole cage apart to do so. And it will cost them lot of floor space.... and the hight....they are always up there and only come down to drink and eat If i make it an open space, what about falling? I don't want to use the platform...

Re: Thinking about downsizing cage
I clean the CN like this every 2 weeks. I have to change the bedding every 2 weeks because of the smell, and i also take the trays and perspex out to clean. The perspex looks a bit dirty after 2 weeks. But maybe i can try to just wipe out the trays and swipe the perspex clean and put clean bedding i...

Re: Question intro/cages
Thanks. I have ordered a extra seperate cage for the babies to live in while they grow to be big enough for introduction.
It is a savic zeno 2 cage.
I will wait with the intro till they weigh at least 200gr.

Question intro/cages
hi, my 3 boys (1 12 month old, 2 5 month old) are living in a double CN in the living room. next weekend i can get 2 new 6 week old boys from a breeder, they are now 5 weeks and weigh about 130gr. i think it is best to start intro's with a minimum 200gr weight? if so, i do have to keep them seperate...
