Rat paw prints

Hi all, I've been looking for some good information on rat paw prints - size, variation in shape for different sort of fancy rats (if there is any). I've found a lot of pictures of outlines on the internet, and some websites that seem like they have good information (tracking websites and the like),...

Re: Noisy breathing, what can I do?

I took him into the bathroom when I showered to let the steam do its work and I think it helped a little, thanks for the advice on that. I think that my little guy is also going to be allergic to life as well - it's bene suggested before that he's extra sensitive to dust in the air and whatnot, poor...

Re: Noisy breathing, what can I do?

Thanks for replying. He's bene put on a different antibiotic for 2 weeks as well anti-inflammatorys for 5 days. However, I noticed that when at the vets, he didnt sound quite as bad as he did over the weekend - and this evening he's sounding back to worse again, which makes me think that perhaps it'...

Noisy breathing, what can I do?

Hi there, One of my boys is making a lot of noise when he breathes, almost like a squaking sound. He's had it for almost a couple of weeks now - I took him to the vet who gave me antibiotics (Doxycycline) to give to him over the course of a week. He finished the meds on Monday and it seemed to solve...

Re: What can I do before I can get him to a vet?

Unfottunately, Frodo's condition deteriorated rapidly after taking him to the vet in the morning. We went back in the afternoon but he was put down as the vet said that he wouldn;t make it through the night, and he was obviously suffering. The cause was some sort of neural infection.

What can I do before I can get him to a vet?

Hi everyone, One of my rats, Frodo, has suddenly become lethargic and dizzy; he keeps losing his balance and he's moving around slower than usual. I've noticed porphyrin around his nose as well. I'm going to take him to a vet first thing in the morning but is there anything you guys recommend me to ...

Re: Scab from due to mites or a war wound?

Thanks for replying. The wound looks larger than typical mite scabs do from the pictures I've seen, hopefully it is just a scratch (their nails are sharp!). I've had a quick scour for anything on the floor that may have caught him but can't find anything. I've washed the wound in warm water and of c...

Scab from due to mites or a war wound?

Hi everyone, I noticed this morning that one of my boys has a little mark behind one of his ears. I've been unable to get a picture in which it can be seen, but it's basically small, round, red mark, possibly a scab or a wound. Is there an easy way to tell the difference between a healing war wound ...

Re: What counts as sneezing excessively?

Thanks for the advice - the sneezing seems to have mostly cleared up over the weekend. Listening to their chest sounds okay but I'm not entirely sure, so I'll probably get them checked out at the vets.

What counts as sneezing excessively?

Hi all, One of my lovely little boys has been sneezing today. It's reasonably often - a couple of sneezes (at anywhere from 1 minute to 10 minute intervals) - but it's usually not too rigorous or violent. If I hadn't noticed a couple of particularly bad sneezes earlier (about 4 hours ago), I wouldn'...

Re: Rats being unusually still?

Yes, I did, the change was very sudden! :)

Thank you to everyone for your help and recommendations, I can't tell you how glad I am that they're okay! (Although I'm sure you all know!) I'll continue to keep an eye on them to make sure they've definitely snapped out of it :)
