Re: Second hand toys

For the plastic and ceramic toys, you can definitely keep those as they should be easy to clean. personally I would be a bit concerned about the bleach, and would prefer to use Vinegar and a pet safe disinfectant, but if you ensure it is Fully cleaned off it shouldn't be a problem. For the hammocks,...

Re: Getting my first rats this week, am I overthinking the d

...Your boys will almost certainly need the extra protein from the eggs (or any other high-protein food – fish, chicken, or high-quality wet dog/cat food are other common options) for the first 2-4 weeks after they move in with you. At 8 weeks old, they'll probably still be growing very quickly and...

Re: Getting my first rats this week, am I overthinking the d

Also I believe that the ratio of fruit and veg for rats should be about 3/4 veg and 1/4 fruit as fruit contains a lot of sugar, so the amount should be limited :)

Re: Getting my first rats this week, am I overthinking the d

Hiya, congrats on entering the wonderful world of rats! I'm not the most experienced so will need someone to confirm I am correct but 15g sounds like a perfect amount per day (it's what I feel my girls) however it may be easier on their tummies if you give them a small amount of fresh veg every day ...

Re: Broken tooth - help!!

Hiya, thanks for the reply! Mei's tooth grew back very quickly, within 3-4 days and luckily her bottom teeth didn't grow too long or become misaligned so no need for a vet trip this time! :)

Indroducing neutured male

im getting a neutured boy from a rescue on Sunday (aswell as 2 baby females in a few months yay!!) and I have a few more questions about introducing him to my 2 current girls who are about a year old now. I won't be taking the girls with me to pick him up as its a fairly long train journey but I was...

Broken tooth - help!!

I recently bought a zoozone cage and I decided it would be nicer for my rats to be in there while I clean their cage instead of their tiny carrier. So I plop them in with toys and a hammock etc. And they seemed very stressed which I thought was odd as they are very calm when in their carrier. Anyway...

Ah I see thanks! The zoozone has a built in water bowl type thing so that's handy!

Re: Rat introduction advice!

One last question, with my zoo zone cage, I am only able to attach one water bottle. Would it be alright if I used a water bowl inside the cage too or would I have to buy a free standing bottle aswell so they don't fight over it?

Re: Rat introduction advice!

Also, did you put your rats straight in a small cage together or did you introduce them outside of the cage first?

Re: Rat introduction advice!

My breeder bringing the rats to me, but maybe I should let the girls out for play time for a while before they arrive so they are a bit worn out? That's a really good idea :)

Also, how big / old do rats have to be to introduce to adults? My girls are around a year and a half old now.

Thanks:)
