Re: Supplements for Kidney disease

Also rat guide says "The recommended dosage is based on 1 to 5 mcg’s (micrograms) of B12 in the B complex, and is given PO (oral) daily" and "dissolving the powder in 2mL of water".... "the dosage may only be about 0.2mL". if my B- complex supplement contains 1ug of B12 then he should be having 1/10...

Supplements for Kidney disease

Ive i was given the option of blood tests but opted against it as i dont really want to put him through being poked and proded whe...

Help switching to kidney friendly mix

I need to move to a Kidney friendly mix, 11/13 of my boys are 20 months +, one of which is currently showing very high protein levels in his urine and HLD which today i found out can be linked. I need to do a RR order very soon but im really confused as to what i need to avoid, and do i need a diffe...

Body language during intros

Ive done lots of intros with adult males and have always been fairly confident, until one in july ended up with my little old man rushed to the vets to have his insides stitched back into him. I am not understandably rather nervous, mostly because the damage that was done to Peanut was literally don...

Re: Long term feeding of a "complimentary" mix

Thankyou, ill get some suppliments. I use a Bannanna brunch base so i dont tend to supplement with any of the extras. They definitely arent over weight at all, i wouldnt say they were skinny either but they are pretty small compared to the rest of my boys if they really are 2 years old. Going to try...

Long term feeding of a "complimentary" mix

I picked up 2 more rats today, The previous owner says they are to years old and im pretty sure they have been confined to a cage their own lives. Re: Low heart rate

Thankyou ill have a look into Vitamin B1, they were fed on P@H nuggets and science select nuggets before they came to me so not sure how likely this is as it doesnt seem to have any information on the Vit B1 content. Interestingly it seems in dogs Bradycardia can be a indicator of Kidney failure, i ...

Re: Low heart rate

I'm a bit confused ... the vet said the rat definitely doesn't have a heart murmur, but treated him as though he did have one? :? Yep  i took Claude with 3 problems 1. a sore on his back with a mass under it - possibly a ulcerated tumour or abscess, treating with Synulux for 2. Increased respi...

Re: Low heart rate

That's what I'm not sure about too she said vetmedin works by helping the heart beat more effectively she said she's sure he's not got a heart murmur or fluid on the lung BUT she's not my usual exotics vet and she didn't actually realise his heart rate was unusually low until she listened to the oth...

Re: When introductions going life threateningly wrong....

Thanks :) Ideally getting him in with the main mischeif would be the best for both me and him, hes extreamly confident and active and i think he would really benefit from the hugeeee cage and the interaction with a large group to keep him mentally stimulated but at the same time yesterday was the sc...

Re: Holiday Cage

Out of curiosity where is the pet hotel? Are there such things as rat-specialist pet hotels or sitters? I have a 100cm Mamble and a Zeno that I use for my rat sitting cages :dumbo: :hearts: They went to Lakeside Cattery and small pet hotel in Crewe, they mainly do cats but they have a building for ...

When introductions going life threateningly wrong....

On Thursday a stray male rat came to live with me (already been quarantined etc), i assume hes 9-12 months old but thats just a guess. I have a mischeif of 10 males (4 neutered, 6 intact) they are a laid back group and very used to other, even adults, coming and going from their little family. For t...
