Hip Dysplasia

Hi, I have not been active on the forum for a while but my last couple of vets visits have left me a little stumped. One of my foster girls (approx 16 months) developed a limp (no swelling, happy to be examined and handled with no squeaks), after a week of loxicom and no improvement the vet recommen...

Re: injury during introductions

Hi Cub Thank you for responding. The wound is a 1cm long gash, 2mm deep. At first I though it was a bite wound but I cannot see any teeth marks so it is possible it is from claws. So far going slowly seems to be working. I am hoping I just rushed thing as I have only done introductions once before :...

Re: injury during introductions

Hi Again, I have been doing a bit more research and my new plan is to go back to square one. Pop all three in a neutral space (the bath tub plus towel) and observe. If all seems well pop in my smallest (cleaned) carrier, hopefully they will jump in themselves (although my oldest girl may need a hand...

injury during introductions

Yesterday we picked up a mother and daughter pair (approximately 15 and 8 months old) to keep our lone doe (approximately 22 months) company after the sudden loss of her cage mate. Our doe had a mammary tumour removed on monday. We are using the carrier method for introductions. This morning I notic...

modifying furret XL tower

Hi, One of my girls is struggling with the tunnel in the XL tower (used to get from the bottom to the top cage). She is 2 years old in one week and I think her age is starting to catch up with her. :olddoe:  Does anyone have any advice / ideas / experiance of modifying this tunnel? Part of it ...

Re: ill rat off food

Hi, thanks for the ideas. Sorry i have not been able to post sooner. Caza66 - she is on synulox, terbutaline and loxicom orally and amikacin and bisolvon by nebuliser I have been able to get her to eat and she is acting more like herself which is a huge improvement! I am focusing on getting the anti...

ill rat off food

My 14 month old girl is suffering with a respiratory infection. She is currently on 2 meds (by nebuliser) and 3 meds (oral). The probelm is she is hardly eating anything and I am really struggling to get the oral meds into her. So far I have tried soya yoghurt, flavoured soya milk, chocolate soya pu...

Re: how to kitten proof the wire door of a cat carrier

Thanks for the pic Ratbubble, nice modding ;) but as I am using the carrier for introductions I am not sure how the cable ties would stand up to my chewers. Acapae_wolf - can I ask what kind of mesh you used. I am not very DIY savy (i wasnt kidding when I wrote I need an idiots guide  ) Thanks...

planning first introduction

Hi, I am hoping to get two kittens to add to my existing group on three one year old girls and am trying to plan my introduction strategy well in advance, hopefully this will mean I am calmer and feel more prepared and there will be no nervous human to upset the rats. Sorry for the rambling post and...

how to kitten proof the wire door of a cat carrier

Hi There, I am preparing for two more kitten to join my group of three one year old girls some time in december. I hope to start introductions in my cat carrier but the spacing on the front wire door is too big for kittens. I have read opsts on the form of people using wire or mesh to make carriers ...
