Re: Pancaking ?

No, he is only almost 5 months old. He is very bouncy and does not appear to be overweight.

Pancaking ?

Foxtrot seems to pancake a lot more than the others. Even when it's not very hot. He occasionally does it in the cage, like a ratrug. But also when he has free play - he will pancake and then sort of try and run at the same time. Like he is being a stealth rat with no legs. Why would he do this? He ...

Re: Who has had explorer/SRS trays made?

At the risk of resurrecting a zombie thread - I'm very excited to say I have just ordered mine . It will be such a relief not to have substrate all over the floor....and hallway...and stairs...and bathrooms....

Wire protection

I want to rat proof my sitting room so that the rats get a little extra free range time with us in the evening. The only worry we have is electrical wires behind the sofa. I'd try and block it off but Foxtrot is an escape artist and sees any barrier as a challenge to jump over / push / squeeze aroun...

At one point we made it a bit deeper than intended and two of them have enjoyed it all the more for being able to get in and pretty much dive right under, hovering the peas up under there. They jump right in and sort of swim and di...

When to feed and how to offer fresh food and a cooked meal.

Day 2 with our new babies... I fed via the scatter method this morning, about 15g mix per rat. We also gave them half a cherry tomato each, and a little apple core. So that was sort of breakfast time. I want to move feeding to after afternoon/evening free play (but I could see no scattered food when...

Getting confused with bedding, substrate etc

I thought I had everything sorted for the imminent arrival of my babies on Friday Then I realised maybe not I have litter (Paperlit pellets) and substrate (Finacard) but now realised I don't know what to put in for bedding - should I have ordered something else? Do I put bedding in the Sputnik? Anyw...
