Re: Home remedy for mites

I hope it's okay if I ask my question here:
My youngest rats are 3 months old now. The group has been scratching extensively so I want to use ivermectin ( a product from beaphar)
Is it safe for the youngest three?

Re: New rats suddenly nervous

My rats were like this too at first. Getting out of the cage themselves and walking all over me, and then the next day they would be scared again. If you like, you could read my topic about it. You can find it by clicking on my user name. I've had my rats for about 3 months now and they're doing gre...

Re: Behaviour 6 weeks old rats against the older ones

Thanks for the replies.

I worry too much about my rats
They are still doing great.
I tried taking some pictures today but I'm not pleased with the results. So now I'm looking for a good but affordable camera.

Glad I found this forum. It's been a great help!

Behaviour 6 weeks old rats against the older ones

Okay, so my new 2 rats are here! (yes 2, I was supposed to get one but I couldn't choose ) The little ones are a little over 6 weeks old and...well...not scared one bit. I've had them since yesterday. They met with my two girls (6 weeks older) on neutral territory. All went well, after 20 m...

Re: Finally i've got rats again....but could use some advice

An update: They are doing great :) I have moved them from the seperate room to our hallway and this has worked wonders for them. They have a lot more activity going on around them, and smells and noises etc. Both ratties are much more lively now and love it whenever there are people around. They lik...

Re: How often to wash hammocks

I change them at least once a week...my girls pee in them :P
And not just because of the smell but mostly for the rats themselves, since they are so susceptible to respiratory infections.

Time will tell, thank you Mayamy :dumbogirly:
I will continue with picking them up, petting them etc.
They are young so it should be possible for them to overcome their fear.

Re: Finally i've got rats again....but could use some advice

The dogs are around me the entire day. My cat walks by the cage sometimes but the rats don't seem to mind. (The breeder has cats and dogs) There are no scary smells or noises, not that I can think of anyway. They don't even flinch when the dogs bark so I don't think the dogs are the problem. It's dis...

Re: Finally i've got rats again....but could use some advice

Okay, i'm confused.... now the rats are scared again. :| They came up to me, enjoyed free range... but since yesterday they act as if they barely know me.. I don't get it. I've got them almost 2 weeks now! Will this get better over time? What could be the reason for this behaviour? When I pick them ...

Re: Finally i've got rats again....but could use some advice

Were making progress here. They start to enjoy having me around now. They come up to me and bounce around their cage. :) They get out of their cage by themselves now! But I do have a quiestion: They are 7 weeks old and they start to chace each other so one ends up on her back with the other one stan...
