Re: Hooty baby

Hi thanks Mary :)

I found a lot of conflicting advice on the internet so good to hear it from someone experienced!

I have Baytril but I will still take him in anyway to be safe - saves mum a job of trying to get him in over the weekend!

Thanks again! x

Hooty baby

Hey all, long time now see :) I'm still ratless but rattysitting 16 beautiful furbabies for a friend. In typical ratty style, one has come down with the hoots 2 days before hooman-mum gets home. Going to phone the vets today but problem is I think he is only around the 4 month mark and is very teeny...

Re: Best antibiotics for respiratory problems

*following this thread as I've had the same issue*

Baytril, Baytril and Doxy, Veraflox and steroids haven't shifted my hooty old men's wheezes :(
Let me know if the vets let you try something different, Carol and I'll go demand the same 8-)

Re: Huge hole near penis.

Poor little guy! My Larry was prone to getting abscesses next to his willy... I think theres a name for it? Once one burst and you could see muscle so maybe it is a possibility for Robin? Once I pressed one and pus oozed from out under his foreskin  But a dose of ABs sorted him out :) He had a...

Re: Facial Abscess - help!

I had a rat with a massive facial abscess. The vet didn't want to operate with it being on his face so he jist gave him a course of baytril and some pain relief. The abscess cleared up very quickly without bursting, although I expect if logans has scabbed you won't be thay lucky  there are bet...

Re: Really upset with FR

I'm not sure about all the features available on the phpBB software, but if it is possible to set up a group who has that section hidden from them, then that's something we could do. People would need to request to be added to that group on an individual basis though - we can look into that. If pos...

Re: Really upset with FR

I think it got added a while ago with the intention of improving the welfare of the rats bred for reptile food (after all snakes have to eat). I wonder if perhaps that section of the forum could be hidden unless access is requested? (Like the "Adult Chat" section). Sorry that its upset you though :(...

Re: Leptospirosis questions

Is amoxicilin penicillin based? John gave Gregory that once when nothing else seemed to work. Hope you get to see him soon :)

Leptospirosis questions

Hi there, just got a few qus re: Leptospirosis A "stray" has been handed into the vets. However she is very tame (licky, boggley, snuggley) but she does have a lot of porph around her eyes (her right eye more so) and slight square tail. I'm not used to girls but I couldn't imagine her being more tha...
