Re: Orphan rats!!!

What happened to the mother? I have three nursing does here in Uttoxeter, with babies 12-14 days old.

I'm glad it's not just me, I just spent a week logged out because I couldn't be bothered to log back in again.

Logging me out.

I'm usually logged in automatically but just recently I'm logged out every day or two and logging back in is a pain. No matter what I check I'm still kicked off. Any ideas? Apart from stop lurking every day then you won't notice?

Re: Discussions relating to Hantavirus

Too late to edit, sorry.

Should we be washing up rat bowls/water bottles etc and human things separately? It should be mentioned that we never actively share with the rats, all stuff from in their cage or mouths is washed before humans use it.

Re: Discussions relating to Hantavirus

I do wonder if changing hygiene routines is pointless until we know more. My rats and my human family (including my two year old) have been sharing bowls and spoons since I got rats 7 years ago. I've never been seriously ill in that time and neither has my son who I would assume would have been way ...

Re: Vegan Mix??

For most of their lives rats can survive just fine on a vegan diet. But omnivores are designed to eat meat so we find it easier to get the protein out of animal sources. This means in the rapid growth stage and the end of life stage rats need animal protein as they can't eat and absorb enough from p...

I agree that if the rat is bleeding and confused a vet trip would be the best idea.

Re: Synulox Palatable drops dosage

Yeah, that's the right sort of dose. After 7-10 days have passed (how long the solution lasts for once made up), if the AB is working and you're doing a full course, get pills as they're so much cheaper. Surely I'd have to give them four crushed up pills or something? They'd never eat that much! I ...

Synulox Palatable drops dosage

Hey, I've been given synulox to try as baytril wasn't working but my vet has told me a huge dose and I just wanted to check that it was right. She has told me to give 1ml per 500g twice a day which is 10 times the dosage for a cat...... she said it's because rats have faster metabolisms but she chec...
