Re: Introductions

Yes, completely normal. This is usually a dominance thing but i'm guessing it's because Petal hasn't learned manners yet. Just keep an eye to make sure Rosie doesn't get too annoyed with it.

Re: Introductions

Hang in there. This all seems like really positive behaviour to me. You sound like you're keeping your nerve really well. The first one is always the worst. My first intro was dreadful. My alpha was a face biter and all new rats ended up with wounds on their faces. I didn't realise this wasn't norma...

Re: Introductions

Just stick with it. Sounds like you are doing brilliantly. If they don't settle after a few days I would suggest a little longer in the carrier. This all sounds perfectly normal so try not to worry.

Re: Jenny / Freddy 2 max cage/ Tom 82 cage

I can only find them with shelves in so that would be fine. Redfraggle has provided me with one but I was hoping to have a choice so if I could have yours Mary that would be great.

Jenny / Freddy 2 max cage/ Tom 82 cage

Can anyone supply me with a nicely set up pic of the above cage? It must be 80cm x 50cm x 80cm but I must have the owners permission to use the pic otherwise I'd have just swiped one from "show your set-up".

I can explain by PM why I need it :)

Re: SRS ladders

I may be wrong. I only use the ladders to fill in the gap in the bottom of my double SRS where the side panels have been removed

Re: SRS ladders

I think they are different as one is for the middle so you can block off the pop hole. I think that one is slightly wider.

Re: Introducing nervous neutered boy

I would suggest not putting cages side by side, it tends to wind rats up. I think I would let him settle in for a week or so. Get to know him. Learn his body language. I would probably start with giving him free range time with the girls and see how they get on then move on to the carrier method for...

Re: Could I have help choosing a cage please ?

(Hello back! :D ) Well after lugging big cages around the pet room today ( :P ) husband agrees that an SRS would be better! So going to save up for one instead of getting the other cage. Yay!! That's a shame. I was hoping you would write a review and stick.some good pics in "show your set-up"...

Re: Very very worried for lone boy

I wouldn't wash them. I find messing about with their smells just confuses them and the bonded ones end up squabbling. I had a lad who I just wouldn't accept company and would lash out as soon as he saw another rat, it was caused by fear and not aggresssion. He has gone to live with a friend and now...

Re: Blenheim rat cage + cage recommendations

That cage is certainly big enough (cage calculator says large enough for 8) and fairly well made. The only issues I have with it are that the bar spacing may well be too wide. It certainly would for my girls, they would just walk out of it. The other issue is that the base isn't very deep so you wou...
