Re: Whether to PTS
I'd get her on daily prednisolone as it was probably the steroid that helped. If you crush the tablets and mix the powder with nutella she'll probably just eat it. You could also try cabergoline with the steroid. It does sound like some sort of tumor, PT or otherwise, in her head. You can't fix it. ...

Re: Doxy Dosage
What does your rat weigh and what is wrong with it ?
Your actual dose is 4mg. If your rat is 400g that is 10mg/kg. If it's for a resp issue it's at the higher end but not unreasonable

Re: Refusing necessary medicine.
I wouldn't worry if the other rat gets a bit. It happens.
You could ask your vet for the poultry version of Baytril which is 10% rather than 2.5 to get the volume down. I often do that.

Re: Baytril Burn and Frusol Dose
The dose range for furosemide varies http://ratguide.com/meds/urinary_tract_agents/furosemide.php I'd go higher if it's not working at what's been prescribed. Baytril burns take a while to show, hopefully he'll be ok. I never had a problem years ago when they used to routinely inject baytril so ther...

Try feeding baby food (something like banana custard works well) from a teaspoon or on your fingers so they can't run off and eat it.

Re: Pituitary Tumour and respiratory issues
Your vet can prescribe human cabergoline if the rat won't take the liquid form. They can do that for any med under the EU cascade where there isn't a veterinary licensed option in that type of formulation.

How old is he and is he overweight?
If he's getting on it could be heart related.

Don't underestimate a small alpha, mine is about 550g and he can flip Bisley who is 750g over.
Walter also barbers and I have a feeling he does it as he really has to exert his authority because his two cagemates are soooo much bigger than him

Re: Is it OK for them to immerse their heads??
They like to dive. When they swim they'll dive under and do a roll like a person would on reaching the end of a pool and turning. I think they know what they're doing.
