Re: Rat-Safe Air Freshners

I have read that the Scentsy wax melter things are safe but I still wouldn't use one in a smallish room or near a cage.

I can't use much like that as hubby is really sensitive to scents. We use those air purifier things that 'scrub' the air through water.

Re: ZGT question

thank you, I am hoping it's just a combination of cage mate grooming, self grooming following losses. I felt truly sick when I noticed it a couple of days ago - I was very nearly too scared to ask this question. Because he's older the fur doesn't seem to be growing back fast - he had a preputial gla...

ZGT question

For those that have seen ZGTs in their rats, did they ever start with a bald patch under the ear when no lump or any other symptoms was visible? My darling Oscar seems to have a bald patch under one ear, although I *think* the fur is starting to grow back. He lost his last cagemate a month ago, but ...

Re: Urgent - Morgan's sick

Oh Anne I'm so very sorry. I've had a couple like that, go from being fine to floofy and lethargic and a mass found all in the space of no time at all. One boy the vet advised take him home and see how he goes with some meds and I think it was only a day or 2 later he left me. I'm so sorry xx

Re: 6 week old baby with scab on his abdomen

my best tip recently for fussy rats (had a girl staying here for holiday who turned her nose up at all my usual never-fails) is crumble a little digestive biscuit and add the baytril. When it's soaked in a little add a scrape of ripe avocado and stir together - she'd have practically had my finger o...

Re: Neutering Girls

I've had 3 crazy rescue girls spayed today. They were 4½ months old. I picked them up tonight and they're still crazy! I've removed their wheel from the cage to try and keep them a bit quieter tonight I've had girls spayed for all the time I've had rats, which is nearly 13 years I think. I've only l...

Re: Potential ZGT - how long did you get?

I hope so! When I found a lump in elderly River's neck I took him to the vets and we talked tumour. The vet made sure I realised what was coming up, I said yes, bravely. a day or 2 later something said Abscess to me. I took him back to the vets and said "I know I'm probably fooling myself but...."
