Re: 2am, inner ear bleed - help?

I napped between about 7.30 and 8, woke up and there was blood EVERYWHERE! She went fairly still and didn't respond/get up to have a look round when we went out and got a taxi, she didn't panic when a cat miaowed at her in the vets (she's normally terrified of cats, none of the other girls are!). Th...

Re: 2am, inner ear bleed - help?

The past hour or so she's gone a bit quiet - but that might be because she's been up with me all night. Vets opens in an hour and a half.

Re: 2am, inner ear bleed - help?

I also have insomnia. Sorry I don't know why this might be I've just had a look through my NFRS handbook though, all that is described is - ear mange mites - but I don't think this is it if the blood is coming from inside the ear. The other is to do with infection. It does say Zithromax is a good A...

Re: 2am, inner ear bleed - help?

Hi I'm new to owning rats so don't really have much advice but thought as we're the only 1s online right now and I'm sure you're feeling panicky (I know I would) I'd reply and give you some support. Has Sugar's ear stopped bleeding? If so me personally would wait till morning, if not I'd be tempted...

2am, inner ear bleed - help?

Hoping there are some insomniacs or non-Brits on the board who can offer me some advice/reassurance? I came to bed a short while ago and noticed Sugar's ear was bloody. She's a hormonal 6 month old girl who often gets swiped at for being too boisterous with the older girls so I assumed she'd been bi...

Re: Ruby's been pregnant* for 18 months!

Dermoid cyst sounds much the most likely. I know the rescue people round here only ever allow one sex, or neutered rats, at rat meets because they had too many cases of people deliberately putting boys and girls together - but I'd hope UK rat show goers wouldn't be that irresponsible! My thoughts e...

Ruby's been pregnant* for 18 months!

*Technically Okay so, on Sunday at about 12pm I woke up, I'd been out the night before - I VERY rarely go out, and because I'd been out I'd not given the girls their nightly lump/bump/injury check (one night off, once in a while - no harm in that right? Wrong!) Woke up and noticed Ruby was sat in a ...

Re: My 'terminally ill' rat made a full recovery!

The seroma developed a good week or two after her op so she'd finished her post-op ABS then she was put on steroids for the lymphoma afterwards I think, it's all a bit muddled! I know the lumps started cropping up after the ABs, during the steroids. She's very much enjoying being back with all her c...

Re: My 'terminally ill' rat made a full recovery!

GOOD NEWS! Stardust's new lump was actually a small abscess/cyst which has now been dealt with (poor little thing, she scratched me to ribbons and bit the vet! She's never bitten anybody in her life, I was so apologetic and the vet was cool about it "If someone came at me with a scalpel I'd probably...

My 'terminally ill' rat made a full recovery!

Hello! I thought I'd share with you guys the amazing story of my lovely Lady Stardust who about a month ago was given 2-12 weeks to live, and who is now pretty much fully recovered. I wanted to wait until she was completely out of the woods before posting (didn't want to tempt fate) but she's doing ...
