I can't imagine, if it had been done at the vets, that you wouldn't have spotted it while he was being put into the carrier, given it's size and shape it's not something you'd have missed. I'd double and tripe check the carrier/cage for anything he may have grazed it on. Hope it heals well xx

Get a cat toy, and see how she reacts to that moving gently infront of her. My girls tend to mimic its movements and sway with it.

Re: Trapped tail...

Relieved that I'm not the first to have this problem, and that nobody seems to blame me (I was like 'oh god I'm a monster! I hurt a teeny fuzzy!) the little madam seems fine today (well enough to snitch treats and chew hammocks) the mark has faded a lot (tiny pink mark, I think more from the panickin...

Trapped tail...

I feel awful! I was just putting the girls back (cage clean, free range, cuddles) and I trapped Lucy's tail in the cage door. You've never heard such a racket! She squeaked blue murder and thrashed about like she was possessed, when we opened the door she shot across the cage and hid, she wouldn't l...

Re: Fresh foods my rats ate today

A chunk of cucumber, a chunk of pineapple, baked potato skins, pork bones with a little meat on, and a tiny bit of pork fat (which they haven't touched) and the bottom of a cardboard box - I didn't feed them that they just ate it

Cosy Beds and Burrows

I was very hesitant to get my destructive girls more softies - I might aswell just have handed them my purse to gnaw through, but I've had my Cosy soft shelf for a month now and not a nibble. All their products are made of thick fleece, which comes off of the frame for easy washing, my girls love it...

What are you cleaning the cage with? If you're using standard household cleaners (mild antibac wipes etc) he may be reacting to that.

Re: Savic Freddy 1 and 2

My naughty girls have chewed through three hammocks in three weeks, so I bought them a lovely soft shelf (from cosybedsandburrows) and introduced a few more 'hard' toys and equipment into their cage in the hopes they won't eat it. Two sputniks, many cardboard tubes, a wooden bridge, a wooden ladder ...

Re: Fresh foods my rats ate today

A slice of wholemeal bread torn up and soaked in the leftover juice from our ratatouille (tomato puree, tomato juice, bit of oil, mixed herbs) went down a treat, they also have some pork bones (with a little pork left on) for free range tonight
