Hi!
My rat have a mammary tumour. it's growing really fast. I'm considering having it oparated. My vet said the estimated cost would be around 130£. I would like to ask anyone who went though this as well with their rat what do you think about the price, cause I don't have any idea how much should operation like that cost. I'm living in Edinburgh. Is 130£ more or less a regural price or I might get it done cheaper elswhere?

My vet charges £40 but I have heard of other charges similar to what you've been quoted. Hopefully other Edinburgh people can advise.

That's about what I pay so seems right to me. This thread may be helpful though http://www.fancyratsforum.co.uk/viewtop ... 38&t=29379

Mine was £160 but it was in a very tricky position and was being fed by the jugular so it was very delicate

My experience has been £70-ish generally, from two different vets - but they both classed rats as "small children's pet" (same ballpark as hamsters, gerbils etc) or similar, whereas I've heard of others classing them as "exotics" (same ballpark as iguanas, parrots etc  ) and so charging a lot more
