Rear end weakness

Post by Jennamay9 » Tue May 07, 2019 11:56 am

Hi there,

My 15 month old rat has been walking with a weird gait over the past couple days. He also sits right on his butt when cleaning instead of on his haunches. He also seems to be staying on the lower level of his cage. And when he stands up he holds on to something.

He is still eating/drinking/going to the bathroom normally. And he is still playing with his brother.

Is he too young for hind leg degeneration? Could this be a pituitary tumor?

Those aren't PT symptoms, and he is quite young for HLD, but similar symptoms can be caused by kidney issues - it might be worth getting his urine checked, and ensure they are on a kidney friendly food mix.
