Crowley, who is now nearly 2 years old and has been with me for 18 months, has suddenly started test biting/mouthing things, particularly my fingers. It doesn't hurt but I am curious to know why it has only just started. His eyesight looks okay.

One of my rats, Watney, has recently started doing this. Pretty sure that it's affection, and them showing that they trust you.

Any issues with him holding hard food in his front paws?

No he doesn't. There has been something not quite right with him in the past couple of weeks but nothing obvious. He always used to be first at the door but he is more interested in licking himself  . I can't see anything that is bothering him down there though. I'm stumped. He does seem to be a bit more like himself tonight.

I ont think its something you should worry about, its quite normal for many rats.

Just an update on Crowley, he looks like he has a pituitary tumour. Over the past couple of weeks he has started having trouble holding his food, first using one paw to eat but now he is eating from the bowl. He's losing weight, struggling to walk, not cleaning the porphoryn from his nose very well, having stained from legs from porphoryn.

I've never had test biting/mouthing as a symptom of a pt, something to remember for the future.

I know it is nearly time :(

Crowley went down hill so fast yesterday we decided to say goodbye. He was such a character, a cheeky boy who will be missed so much.
