Hi everyone, i have a question, can rats have a mental illness?
We lost a young boy a few days ago, and since always he was not normal. I had a few aggressive rats before but he was different, not sure how but different and his cage mates made him apart.
He slep by his own, he ate alone and even in the free range time he was alone in a corner.
It's that posibble?
thanks

Re: Mental Illness?
It is possible that he had some sort of disability - it may have been a mental illness, but more likely to have had a physical cause, perhaps he had sensory impairment, or a deformity in his brain. Although in my experience of handicapped rats, they tend to mix okay with other rats.
Sorry to hear he's gone, but with him being young, it does suggest there was something physically wrong.
