After having to put my Clover down a year ago, I decided it was finally time to open my home to new rats. I rescued two females from a lady on Facebook who had purchased them for her daughter. Eventually, the daughter lost interest in them and they didn't get the care or attention that they needed and so the mom decided to find a better home for them. They're about a year old and they haven't been properly socialized and are thus very skittish. I am currently under the impression that it is harder to bond with older rats and was hoping for a bit of advice! Thank you so much:)

There's lots on this forum on how to socialise rats, including this article: http://www.fancyratsforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=41
and this thread: http://www.fancyratsforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=139&t=31699

I don't think it's necessarily harder to bond with older rats - they may have got used to not being handled, but they may also be more amenable to cuddles once they discover how nice they can be. :luck:
