Hi,
What is the best way to get rats out of the cage? I reach in and pick them up but my other half reckons it's better for them to learn to come out on their own. I'm worried that waiting for this might make them less sociable and more wary of coming out.
What do you reckon?

If they are happy to be picked up then do so. It will only slow their interaction if you wait for them.
