back to flat hammock ,perch, rope?

Post by Sawyer28 » Fri Jan 12, 2018 5:56 am

I’ve had these three guys for 3months and only found you guys (hi)2months ago . Once I read a lot I took them down to bottom level with flat hammock and perches and rope, this helped with one sawyer. Locke came extremely well socialized he is a dream especially for a newb. Hugo well he’s just totally grossed out by me he pins himself as far away as possible, things where going very well he would come to the front , so I put stuff in and opened 2 leve,Fast forward 3 weeks and he has begun hiding and not coming out again .... thoughts what about my beautifully socialized and happy guys ! Do I go back to 1st level I’m so confused , I don’t like holding him so much my lovely Hugo poops on me ,seriously stinky poos man what in the world , I’m so slow and gentle......more time sure ,but should I go back to flat hammocks and no “ I’m not coming out if Your around “ stuff. I hope I made some sense and would appreciate all your thoughts thank you

Are you able to get them all out at once, wear a hoodie/clothes you don’t mind being pooped on, and then sit on the sofa and watch tv for 20 minutes at a time, or sit in the bathroom with them where they can free range and climb on you (so long as there is no where they can get stuck in holes etc).

Yes I guess that’s maybe why I was handling them more and then the holidays just wasn’t around much poor little fellers . Ok, I have a fold out table large that they love I put “ripple rug” on it and a ramp down and WE play, and all over the cage. I must get that going again well thank you so much! Oh should I leave both levels available and pack with stuff?

It might be worth going back until he is not hiding. But then some rats will always be a bit shy. See how things go.
