As soon as I have extra pennies, I am ordering a perspex tray!
I just had to send back a Savic tray I had ordered for the bottom of my SRS as it was a piece of rubbish!! Long story about all the trouble I had buying and then returning the bloody thing. What a joke!

So...opinions please...should I just get the clear perspex or go for blue tinted to blend better with the SRS?

Finally had time to put perspex together. :D Fighting with orange tape. :? Now tape is stuck to carpet. :? Will have to wait another day when I've got someone to help :rollred:

It's not looking pretty at the moment

Mine looked like an absolute disaster when being glued, and the glue gave as soon as I tried to wrestle it into the cage (think my SRS might be a pinch narrower than Stacey's!) but once in is looking absolutely beautiful and my flat is suddenly not completely covered in substrate!

I couldn't find coloured perspex that was as thick as the clear I don't think, or if I did it was more expensive. There is a reason I went for clear.

If you can afford tinted I'm sure it would be lovely for you, but I can't see the rats minding :)
I'm a bit wary of getting tails caught between the base and the door though, perhaps coloured base would have negated that, but so far nothing's been trapped and the cage looks very smart indeed! Thanks Stacey for the trend setting :D

Yep, it is more expensive :( That's what I'm trying to weigh up. Whether it's worth the extra money just to be a little more aesthetically pleasing for me. So no-one has tried the coloured stuff?

Have you found there is a gap Nelly? Should I adjust the measurements? As I was just planning to go by the ones that were posted here :)

If I were to do it again I'd probably shave 5mm off length and width to give a couple of mm wiggle room each side, but that's more for ease of getting it in and out than worry about tails.

;) t'was me and my fabulous ideas. I own the original DIY Perspex tray

Eta: my original tray has a pink back and clear front so I could turn it around for a pink front, but as yet I never have because I really like the clear :)

Thanks guys. I think I will just go for the clear. And probably take a tiny bit off the length and width to make it a little easier for myself.

I'll get it ordered next week :D

It's stuck with this stuff called Jaffa tape - it's kind of like carpet tape but much less annoying.

I can't do the link as I'm on my phone, but it was sheetplastics.com or something like that, and the sizes are...

Base: 895mm x 600mm
Front and back: 895mm x 150mm (that can just be however tall you want it)
Sides: 592mm x 150mm

Why are the sides 592mm and the base width 600mm??

Sorry if the answer is obvious

Is it because the sides go inside the front and back?

Stacey's on holiday right now, but I would assume so, to get best fit for maximum sturdiness :)

Thanks :)

Felt a little silly asking, but I just couldn't quite think how it went together
