Hi,

One of my girls is struggling with the tunnel in the XL tower (used to get from the bottom to the top cage).
She is 2 years old in one week and I think her age is starting to catch up with her. :olddoe:
Does anyone have any advice / ideas / experiance of modifying this tunnel?
Part of it is almost vertical and I am struggling with ideas to adapt it.
Thank you all :)

I forget exactly what the arrangement in an XL tower is, but could you change the angle, perhaps by using a different type of tube? Alternatively, place a shelf below the gap so that the rats jump down or climb up to get to the other half instead of going through a tube.

I agree with Mary. Put a shelf below the hole and you can use the tube to allow your old lady to get up to the shelf. I did similar when I had an old lad in my SRS who had no concept of how far a drop was and was constantly flinging himself off things.

I know the cage, but I don't think I've ever seen what the aperture in the middle is like - is it a circular hole that matches the diameter of the tube, or is is a large square, a rectangle, or what? ;)

It has a hole Mary which enables you to post the tube through minus the ring connector and then re-fit the connector making a snug fit.
