Holiday Cage

Post by Buzzwizz619 » Tue Mar 21, 2017 7:15 pm

What would you say the smallest cage I could get away with would be for 10 male rats for 16 days at a pet hotel?

Thanks

Amy

Furet XL would be fine, or a Zeno empire.

I wouldn't go for anything with a smaller footprint than 100 x 50 because there wouldn't be room for them all on the floor!

Out of curiosity where is the pet hotel? Are there such things as rat-specialist pet hotels or sitters? I have a 100cm Mamble and a Zeno that I use for my rat sitting cages :dumbo: :hearts:

They went to Lakeside Cattery and small pet hotel in Crewe, they mainly do cats but they have a building for small animals, mostly rabbits but they have been amazing with the rats and i would definitely be happy to use them again and recommend them :)

Hello,

I have the same issue with leaving my pet rats at a pet hotel over Christmas. I have a big cage for when at home but it is very hard to transport but I have this cage for when I am away (link below), I have kept them in it for about two weeks before with plenty of walk time every day:

I know this is not ideal but I was wondering if you have ever left them in such a cage as I really do not have any other options for when I am home for Christmas :/

Thanks

I'd consider that to be too small Gabby - how many rats do you have? A furet plus cage, or two joined to make a tower, would be fine for holidays, and they flatpack so are easy to transport.

This one flat packs, I took my two boys up to my parents for Xmas, set them up for a week in this cage. http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/small_pet ... age/334289. Too small for 16 though unless you get a few of them? Even the biggest Mamble would be too small for 16. Two large Mambles with 8 rats each?
