Cage rust?

Post by joshdewijzer » Fri May 31, 2019 10:03 pm

Just picked up a secondhand aventura cage that was used for degus, and it has a fair amount of rust (especially on the bottom tray and some bars). What can I do to get rid of it? I've seen people paint over, but what paint should I use that's safe for ratties?
Thanks

Anything marketed as being safe for children's toys is safe for rats, but for rusty cages I've heard of people using Hammerite. There's a thread here with photos of a little rusty cage renovation project: viewtopic.php?f=41&t=27600
