Was in Wilko today getting a few bits, and naturally ended up in the pet section. Came across this 'edible' seashell perch for birds and wondered if it would be safe for my boys if they ingested it?

Not that I think they'd really want to eat it or find it particularly appetising, but the idea of them basically eating shells is a bit worrying. I thought it might be good for filing nails down though, and if they did decide to have a chew it would be fairly replaceable because of the price. What do people think?

I would think it'll be fine for them. Rats can ingest eggshell, and I don't suppose this it too different.

Yeah it's fine. It's basically a calcium/ mineral supplement if they do.
Just bear in mind that you'll probably want to wipe it clean rather than leaving to soak.
