Hungry boys

Post by Caza66 » Thu Nov 30, 2017 7:51 pm

My group of boys are sooo hungry. I feed them 15g each of dry mix a day, in 2 feeds and fresh food on top of that. Within an hour their bowls are empty, so I usually give them another small handful of dry mix at bed time. There is only 1 chunky lad so I am thinking that what they are getting is okay.

Instead of using bowls, switch to scatter feeding (sprinkle food all over the loose substrate) - it will take them longer to eat, and they will enjoy foraging for the food. :luck:

Will try that. I go through phases of scatter feeding but find that I don’t know if they have anything left. Will see how it goes.

You've already worked out how much they need to maintain, which is the hard bit. So just feed that amount and all will be well. They are the world's most efficient foragers, so can be relied upon to find food if they are hungry and the foraging is so much better for them in terms of mental stimulation and therefore well-being. :-)
