Happy World Rat Day everyone :D

This morning I got the news that Raimy has had 7 healthy babies. Fingers crossed they stay this way. I don't know the sexes yet. And Maze is apparently due tomorrow, not today.

I have been on Facebook messenger with the breeders having a hilarious time trying to think of themes for the litters and therefore some names. They are quite keen to have British-based themes. One theme has, however, been decided on and it is 'Classic British Desserts'. And the best of them is the lucky girl who is to be named Knickerbocker Glory
Nelle, Luna, Maggie, Tutsie, Fizzie and Pip
Never to be forgotten: Me-Me, Popcorn, Trixie, Paws, Tica, Bella and Doris ❤️

I suggested Spotted Dick but it went down like a lead balloon! The breeder concerned told me her Mum said it sounded like a nasty disease and she couldn't get that thought out of her head. Personally I thought it would have been a great name

More great news today that Maze has had 11 babies. All going well so far :D

So, we brought 19 rats to Sweden and have had 4 litters born in the last 10 days or so. A total of 39 live babies - 16 does and 23 bucks. I am over the moon and it feels like the crazy rat trip was well worth it. I am sure there will be enough now to provide us with out next girls!

Btw, The British Dessert theme is now a definite and there are:
3 does - Summer Pudding (aka Summer), Angel Delight (aka Angel) and Knickerbocker Glory (aka Nicki)
5 bucks - Apple Crumble (aka Crum?), Arctic Roll (aka Rolo?), Custard Tart (aka Custard), Syllabub (with no aka!) and Eton Mess (aka Messi)
Nelle, Luna, Maggie, Tutsie, Fizzie and Pip
Never to be forgotten: Me-Me, Popcorn, Trixie, Paws, Tica, Bella and Doris ❤️

Another Update from the crazy rat trip imports:

We took 3 girls from the first litters of the imported rats that were bred (born March 2017). Luna, Maggie and Tutsie are the most delightful, friendly and sociable rats with (so far) immaculate health. For those of you knowledgeable about UK breeders, one is from an Isamu/Lovecraft line (and is the granddaughter of Jemma’s beautiful Diddy who recently passed away), the other 2 are sisters from a Zephyr silvermane line.

The 3 breeders that the took the rats have done an amazing job with their girls and boys. They are now onto, and thinking about, the next generation. Elin, the breeder I have now become good friends with, has recently had two more litters in the silvermane line with a total of 7 does and 13 bucks. We are so excited to be getting two girls from this generation in a couple of weeks time :D.

So, that crazy trip was definitely worthwhile. And I never did tell you that we were never asked for any documentation all the way home from Cambridge (UK) to Gothenburg (Sweden) despite crossing 3 borders en route

Wonderful to hear that everyone's hard work is really paying off! Here's to some straightforward intros for you. :luck:

(And you just know they'd have asked for documentation if you hadn't got everything in order ... like a brolly in your bag warding off the rain. )
