Is catnip safe for rats?

Post by Minnarva » Thu Jul 28, 2016 8:50 pm

I've searched on the internet, but there appears to be conflicting answers. Some people say it's fine, while others say it can have a sedating effect.

My rats love little toys that they can hoard and stash around their cage, but a lot of those cat toys have catnip in them so I've avoided them for now.

Thanks :)

As far as I know, it's not good for them. In addition to any of the sedating effects it may have, it's also a pretty strong smell for your ratties, and it may upset their respiratory systems. I suggest just staying away from them. Better safe than sorry.
