My old boy is not good

Post by Lisacarv » Sun Dec 23, 2012 3:51 pm

My louis is 2 and half . He has Hld . Over just this weekend he seeming quite cold . Over time he has long weight and muscle no matter what he eats presuming its the age . He seemed okay yesterday . I now have him on me as his breathing as little fast he seems like cant be bothered with anything but is resting on me with hotwater bottle . Im hoping he will go peacefully on me as he seems comfortable dont think it be long . Is there anything else i can do? does anyone think there might be hope for him to pull through . I dont really want to get him pts as he seems happy enough on me .

I don't know what to say  I lost a boy with HLD last week. We had to have him PTS. Perhaps you should call the out of hours vet for advice.

Hi,
one of my old boys with HLD passed away last month. He developed back leg spasms and stopped eating/drinking during the day and was just lying there. I was on a night shift and took him to work with me in a small carrier and he passed away peacefully whilst I was cuddling him. I felt that he didn't have long and I didn't want to find him dead in the morning (he was on his own after his brother was pts three weeks earlier). I was happy with my decision but if you are unsure you could always ring the emergency vet for advice.

How long did it take for your boy to go on the day you took him with you?

He seemed ok the day before but in the morning he didn't eat anything, he just had a lick of yoghurt but that was the all he had and he just got very lethargic and he passed away about 2am.

If you feel he is uncomfortable is it not better to at least call a vet to find out their opinion? If there has been no improvement all day it sounds like the right thing to do.

no, he died during my night shift. I just didn't want him to die alone that's why i took him along.
