so sorry -poor boy but he at least he didn't suffer -I'd imagine it was probably quite slow growing at first then for some reason grew fast -any cancer in bone is horrible -thinking of you x

I'm so sorry for your loss. You really are very brave to share the details so soon and I hope your heart mends quickly. Such a terrible experience for you and your little fighter.

Thank you all

It isn't brave, its numb... i can't quite believe it... wrote the post as soon as had the call so the info was in my head, in case it helped someone. his elderly cagemate died in my arms this morning too with a weird twist of fate, think he was waiting for me to get back

Oh gosh. I can't imagine. I guess it was so sudden, you havn't been able to let your feelings catch up. Don't worry about being numb...I didn't feel any guilt for having Semper PTS, I was empty for a while and then I felt the total opposite to guilty, I was relieved he was not suffering anymore.

He held on for you beyond the point of suffering. That says it all :hearts:

Thank you

There is no guilt about having him PTS, it was really all that could be done for him, everything else would have been cruel at that point... before the fit he appeared treatable but afterwards, it was obvious he was going to go to sleep... he wasn't in there anymore (which would make sense as she thinks the hemmorage caused the fit)
Poor little boy did so well to keep going as well as he did and it was so good to hear that it was pretty unlikely he had pain at all

I'm so sorry, how horrific. Thank you so much for sharing that on here though, I've never seen or heard of anything like that - and really hope never to again!

Oh gosh how awful for you. I'm so sorry you lost him, sounds like letting him go was the kindest thing. Thank you for agreeing to the PM, it is a really difficult decision to make and one I've had to make in the past too but hopefully the information can help others in future.

Thank you all. I have never ever ever experienced that before and never want to again, I have no idea what made him get it especially as it either grew In literally a couple of days or it was slow then suddenly spurted.
I'm glad You guys found it useful and hopefully his story and the vets findings can help other rats some how.
Still hard to believe he's gone he was 24 months but it's still a shock
