Cleaning dry/chalky pus from an abscess

Post by Philosophyfox » Wed Apr 25, 2012 11:06 pm

Slug has an abscess over the top of his ZGT on his face. He's had it popped and cleaned out but it's filling back up with a dry, chalky type of pus (the same that was initially taken out). When the abscess was burst the hole was much bigger so the vet was able to simply reach in with forceps and remove balls of pus until it was all clear. The hole is too small for me to really grip anything with tweezers, fingers or cotton bud (of course I am worried about hurting him!) I have been flushing twice daily with sterile saline, but it's so hard to squeeze anything on the face. Is there anything I can do to get the pus out, or is it a case of back to the vets to get them to get it out?
