Thanks everyone for all of the advice...
With your replies and a long chat with the OH it has been decided that come payday (13th July!) I will be buying the SRS. Excited :D

In my opinion it seems the 'flaws' that the SRS could be considered to have are more easily fixable in terms of time and money than the Explorer. Also, my boys love climbing the sides of cages so the horizontal bars of the SRS are a plus!

My 2 little boys are going to be spoiled for space.
Thanks again for your helpful replies :)

Have to say, I have no actual regret buying the SRS.

And it's not only because it's my favourite colour. :P

Anyways, congrats on your decision! It's super exciting isn't it? xD

I remember getting mine. I couldn't believe how big it actually was.
Turned out way bigger than I thought.

And then I went on to say how you could mirror it with easy mods, rather than saying you should add one into your considerations overall ;)

[argh, keep making typos/ badly phrasing...]

I understood what you meant - and I'd actually been considering all of the mentioned cages. Just size that swayed my opinion :)

I'm just hoping that it'll fit in the space I'm planning to put it in. I know it'll be a tight squeeze at least. Fingers crossed!

I imagine it will if you've measured it.
I just suck at visualisation size or something.

I haven't read through all the posts so don't know if I am repeating anyone (sorry if I am  ) but I LOVE my Explorer! I got it second hand and there isn't anything I don't like about it! I am having deeper trays made so that's not an issue, and my OH has made me a shelf for the bottom which is really handy! None of my ratties have a problem with the bars. I have 5 girls in the top and 2 lardy boys in the bottom, and even they get around the bars fine! If I have to have one of the doors closed to hang stuff, I don't find that a problem as the door is still huge enough to get them all out and to do what ever I need to doing there. Even getting my 2 flighty girls out is easy enough!

Have run on enough  so will shut up now!

EXPLORER for me if you hadn't guessed! :D

We have both and the SRS is far superior. I'd never buy an explorer out of choice again unless it was dirt cheap.

Ahha, good! I seem to be having loads of phrasing/ stupid spelling mistakes/ general typo issues today. it's really annoying me! The gap in my living room between the radiator/ wall and the hearth perfectly fits Muskrat's SRS, but is just too small (by like 2cm) for my duetto. It was the most infuriating thing in the world when we discovered this

The space in between my built in cupboard and wall is where I plan to put my SRS - it is about 1cm or 2 bigger than the cage, but I fear I might have to get rid of the skirting boards to fit it in! If it doesn't fit I'll cry...
