My gorgeous custom-made cage. Built by a man who usually builds aviaries. I :hearts: my cage.

I particularly love the trapdoor, and the perspex sides, which keep the substrate in, but allow me to see my gorgeous babies as they trundle through the cage, and forage for food.

Measurements: 120cm wide, 50cm deep, each level is 60cm high, total cage is about 180cm high (excluding wheels).

The whole cage:

Trap door between the 2 halves, enabling me to have 1 big cage, or 2 smaller ones. Brilliant, much-used function.

I've posted this cage in the oldie suitable cages thread too, but it also fits here. It's 150x80ish cm

Cage made for me by my Dad and brother -some is welded but some parts had to be pop riveted. The shelves inside are wooden covered with clear fablon (bar 1) but also are made so they have wire underneath for hanging things! The whole front opens up in 3 big doors (there's 2 bars across but that's all), it's approximately 79cm/31" deep, 71cm/28" wide and just over 2 metres (about 80") high. On very sturdy wheels, so easy to move around.

This is my hospital tub - Used for temporary housing of sick rats.
Image

My hospital tub is a 100L tub with a panel cut out of the front, with snake and mouse mesh bolted to it. There are holes drilled in the lid so that hammocks and peg baskets can be hung, as well as in the side for the hopper of cubes to hang from.
The reason I use a tub as my hospital cage is because it is easy to clean, easy to get them out of, and having mostly enclosed sides means it's a lot less drafty in there for my poor sick ratties This tub sits by the oil heater which goes most of the time, so they are nice and warm, and they get bowls full of yummy mix as well as the hopper full of cubes for them to pick at. Usually I only put two rats in the tub at a time, but as there are three boys who are on medication at the moment, there are three in there for now.
