Five does ranging from 4 to 22 months old. The older 3 are a bit broader in terms of body-type so I'm trying to give things they can manage too, while keeping the general tone of things active.
September's layout. 8 does ranging from 5 to 27 months. Specific health issues influencing the thoughts behind the layout were pregnancy (so safish), the begining of HLD (encouraging activity at levels suitable), and generally being rather old.
Home to 7 does; 6 to 28 months old. Just the top half of the cage following Norey's reintroduction to the group after spending 2 weeks in a hospital cage. I felt it would be better to ease back into half the duetto from an activity pov than all of it.
Home to 7 does; 6 to 28 months old. Have just re-opened it again after the last set of photos. Usually I take layout photos straight after I've done the cage (before I put the rats back), but last night it was too dark (and to be honest, it's grey and miserable here today anyway!). So hence why there's rats obstructing the views, random shadows (rats) and no obvious nesting material.

Also I realised I've not taken any good photos of the roofspace for a while. Most of these ropes and perches have been up there since the summer (in various arrangements), and some items (like the long ash branch) for many months. New this layout is the plastic chain and the rope with the plastic handle.
Duetto home to 10 does. From a very wobbly mostly-stuck-at-the-bottom almost 27 months down to 3 months.
Normally I take photos without rats just after cleanout. Opposite on both counts this time!

Top left. Fabric on the shelf was some old pj bottoms I was saving to turn into a hammock. They decided they wanted it now, so have been 'naughtily' pulling it in all week.
Top is home to 6 oldies (23-28months) hence ALL the hammocks
Bottom is home to my bonkers gingers and my zephyrs. Layouts have to be carefully thought out as the gingers like to ambush me so I need to be able to see where my territorial little darlings are stalking me from
I've finally got round to uploading some cage pictures - some of which were taken years ago, so there is a progression in terms of the type of layout.
To begin with, I used my duettos as they were intended - in two separate halves! With more shelves and fewer ropes. These are some dull and boring lower floor layouts from the dim and distant past:
And some marginally better upper floor layouts:
Only had my ratties since Sunday. They came with the cage which didn't have alot in it and what they did have had to be thrown away. Ive used items from pet shops, pound shops and bit I had at home. I'll be making them a hammock too in the next couple of weeks
