Discussion of rat availability

The Fancy Rats forum believe rats should be sourced from rescues and responsible breeders. As such, we have relaxed some of the rules on discussing the availability of rats on the forum. The rationale behind these rules is to encourage breeders and rescues who agree with the ethical position of the Fancy Rats forum.

Rat breeders who have an entry on the Fancy Rats Web Directory may freely discuss their rat breeding plans and kitten availability. For example, in response to a thread enquiring about the availability of rats, you may reply to let the poster know either that you exist as a breeder, or that you specifically have kittens available (or indeed, you could post on behalf of another rat breeder listed in our web directory that you know to have kittens available). If you have a thread showing kitten photos from a particular litter, you may also mention availability of particular kittens there too.

Rat rescues in our Web Directory may be freely linked to where appropriate, but discussion of individual rescue rats awaiting homing is only allowed if the rats are specifically listed on the Fancy Rats Rehoming boards as available. For example, in response to a thread enquiring about rat availability, you could reply to let the poster know of a rat rescue in their area that is listed in our Web Directory, or point them to specific rats listed in our rehoming section.

Please note that the forum rules have been amended as shown below in bold:
Stating the availability of animals who are advertised in the rehoming sections is permitted across the board so long as a link to the relevant post in Rehoming is also provided.

The reason for this change is to enable members and moderators to find the relevant rats more easily.
